Dog Stars
Dog Stars was designed and painted by professional artist Donna Newman.
Design summary
The design is a tribute to the amazing service dogs who are no longer with us. They were ‘superstars’ to their owners, providing the gift of independence. Inspired by the brightest star, ‘Sirius’, known as the Dog Star. The design features illustrations of dogs among the stars, including Judy, Flash, Folly and Meta - the first-ever British guide dogs.
Sensory items
We asked our artists to come up with a scent and a touch item that relates to their design to give a multi-sensory perspective to their concept. Some of these items will be incorporated into our sighted guide and sensory tours. Donna's sensory items are:
- Touch item: Metallic stars.
- Scent item: Gunpowder.
