What happens after you contact us?

Once you’ve contacted us we’ll arrange a conversation to get to know more about you, understand your aspirations and explore what support might be right.

It can take time to get a full picture of you and your goals, so make sure you set aside at least half an hour to talk to us. Try and find a private space where you feel able to share your thoughts freely. If you have time to prepare, you may find it useful to have copies of your certificate of vision impairment or other documents you might want to refer back to. Think about the things you are finding particularly challenging at the moment and what your hopes are for the future.

This isn’t an assessment, this is all about getting to know you. Over the course of this conversation, we’ll discuss your vision impairment, any health conditions you think we should be aware of, your support network, employment and education, your hobbies, mobility, any concerns you have, and your goals and aspirations. And anything else you want to share with us that you think may be relevant.

This helps us identify what is currently working for you and what’s not working. After this, a second conversation takes place with one of our Vision Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS), to help find potential solutions that work for you and the services that we can provide.

Whatever changes or challenges you’re facing, whatever you want to explore on achieve, we’re here to help. And we’ll work with you to co-create an action plan that is right for you.
