Text Santa supporting 210 puppies!

Text Santa case study

In 2014 Guide Dogs for the Blind joined five other charities as a beneficiary of ITV’s Text Santa appeal.

The appeal raised a record breaking £6.3 million in donations and provided over 15 hours of ITV airtime for all six charities. This money was raised through the generosity of the general public donating on the night of the televised show, and through a range of events leading up to it.

These events included:

  • Philip Schofield’s 24-hour live TV marathon
  • The Big Text Santa quiz
  • A nationwide Morrison’s bag pack

In addition to this, Guide Dogs also featured in a range of regional and national television shows including:

  • Good Morning Britain
  • Jeremy Kyle’s Text Santa Show
  • Let’s Do Christmas with Gino and Mel

The work of Guide Dogs was demonstrated through the story of two guide dog owners, one of which featured Simon Cowell and gained a huge response on social media.

The amount raised was shared equally between the chosen six charities. Every penny of the £1.46 million donated to Guide Dogs has funded the first year of training for 210 puppies, that will go on to provide 1400 years of mobility to people with sight loss.
